The Northern Ireland Alpaca Group is coordinated by a small committee of four members. The committee is elected by the membership of the Group for a two-year term. The current committee will serve from April 2016 to April 2018.
Lee Kane – Chair
Lee, from Causeway Alpacas near Ballycastle, Co Antrim, is the Chair and a founder member of NIAG. Lee bought his first two alpacas as a Christmas gift for his dad in 2007, intending only to keep the two boys as pets. The alpaca bug soon took hold and two females were added in 2009. He now looks after a small “family” of alpacas, as well as four dogs, a parrot and two Dexter cows. Away from alpacas he is the Regional Coordinator of an education project for a children’s charity and is currently on secondment to a statutory sector agency. Contact Lee here.
Sue Kelly – Treasurer
Sue, from Ballinderry Alpacas near Lisburn, is the Treasurer and a founding member of NIAG. As a lot of people Sue bought two girls as pets but fell in love with them and wanted babies so a male was bought and has now a small herd. She is learning the art of spinning the fleece as to make good use of the excellent fibre. During the day she works in the customer service department in Tesco. Contact Sue here.
